Restriction for powdered products on international flights to the United States

Restriction for powdered products on international flights to the United States

from this 30 June a new restriction comes into effectón for powder products on international flights to the United States applied by the TSA – Transportation Security Administration for the transport of these products in carry-on baggage.

If you are going to travel to the United States from Ecuador or any countryís of the world, it's byeís a new restriction has been appliedón for transporting powder products such as makeup, milk powder, café, theúcar, flour, proteínas and others will not be ableán enter the avión in hand luggage if they exceed the 12 ounces or 350 ml, which is equivalent to the sizeñor a can of drink.

Powder-like substances greater than 12 oz. / 350 mL must be placed in a separate bin for X-ray screening. They may require additional screening and containers may need to be opened. For your convenience, we encourage you to place non-essential powders greater than 12 oz. in checked bags.

If your powder products, exceed that weight, dutyán be sent inside the suitcase checked in the hold and the regulations alsoén specifies, what monúin each case, security agents canán open the products and carry out additional checks.

This does not mean that you cannot, for example, take chocolate powder for your trip in a container higher than those 350 ml, I simply won't be able toás do it in your carry-on suitcase. To avoid problems with the controls that will be developedán in all airports in the world on flights with final destination United States, it is advisable to send these products in checked baggage.

For example Tame already sackedó his official statement on this topic, just like the rest of Aerolíairlines that operate direct flights from Ecuador to the United States:

The controls will be developedán at airports where your flight has a final destination of the United States and is direct. If your flight is with connectionón, this control will be carried out for youán at the intermediate airport where the flight originates with the final destination of the United States. For instance, if you fly direct from Guayaquil a Fort Lauderdale, control beá on Guayaquil, but if your flight is with a stopover in Panamá, control beá in this airport.

This is a new control and restrictionón which joins others that the TSA has implemented, as wellén the control that is carried out in a manner random to passengers in some airports as it happens in Quito and Guayaquil. It is always advisable to check the TSA website to be clear about the restrictions on the transportation of líquids, gels, aerosol sprays, electronic equipmentónicos and others: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/all.

Of all restricted powder productsón, powdered milk for babies is exempt from this measureés, medicines and cremated human remains.

I recommend consulting directly with the airlineíin case you have questions about anythingún specific productífico, but if it is not imperative to transport it in hand luggage, better to do it in the checked bag to avoid any problem.
