Tame cancels route to New York

Tame cancels route to New York

From the 1 February 2019 Tame cancel route to New York from Quito, destination to which it operates with a daily flight.

Initially, for scheduled maintenance C-check, since February Tame suspendá the route that connects to Quito Mariscal Sucre International Airport with the John F. International Airport. Kennedy of New York directly.

It was officially knownó since for the period of 1 añor calendar from 1 February 2019, the airínea was authorized to suspend its flights between Quito and New York based on the Resolutionón No. 05/2018 of the Directionón General of Aviationón Civil.

With a daily flight from Monday to Sunday, Tame covers this route since November 2013 when I oppenedó his first destination in USA, but back then I was flying from Guayaquil.

For him 1 march 2017, the airínea state movió the flight again to operate from Quito, route that has not been exempt from problems and setbacks. These setbacks generated mainly by meteorological problemsóon the road or in New York and for unscheduled maintenance, They have turned it into a very particular route.

This is Tame's star route that operates with its único and más great grandfatherófleet number, an Airbus A330 matíHC-COH cylinder, whose lease expires in July 2019 y su renovationóIt has been confirmed that it will not be givená.

route suspended

Initially it was known that it would beíto a suspenseódefinitive n, but finally, the airíNea announced that it is úonly a suspensionón and caníto resume again más ahead, which accordingún statements from airline personnelínea leaveía monthly más de $200.000 dólares in pélosses, pilgriméclearly unprofitable.

The Añor past, Tame contractó the services of the Turkish Airlines company for the period of time that the last maintenance tookó, but given the cost of an operationón of this type, the airídon't decideó commercially and economically suspend the route and do not renew the lease contract of the aircraft and do not look for a replacement.

Once the route is suspended 31 from January, the grandfatherón díundress themés travelá a Europa, where to beá returned early to its owner, so the scheduled maintenance remainsá in charge of the leasor and not of Tame, with which I will not return eitherá a Ecuador.

From the future of this aircraftón and route, we will continue to expand in prómaximum deliveries and secúnew informationón become available.

  1. The evidence and details are in the story.
    no one can be confused
This country suffers from a lack of memory when corruption prevails and the evidence appears or not but the facts are there

  2. You are young and I admire you for your knowledge and honest criteria.
Unfortunately the story for 50 and more years they say the opposite for that and other reasons international and national airlines disappeared from Ecuador reaching air taxis and even fumigators
History that you did not live nor many of the current generations
I respect your criteria the most, but I can never share these issues because I am part of that story.

  3. I have not the slightest doubt that DAC will try to impose some airline flight New York but that is the custom for decades
Now we will see with open flights if they ask to achieve it because the traffic does not justify it, not even for the subsidized tame
I hope they achieve it in good time for Quito

  4. Finally jet blue left to take the route in favor of Ecuador and as you can see it is Guayaquil I don't mind how I take it to the braves and it had to close
It seems to me that eastern was also preparing that same route
Good for users of flights to New York

  5. Shame on them for having to cancel operations due to failure and foolishness to fly from Quito
The country looks bad in the aeronautical field
It should be promoted that an American airline take the route so that users are not harmed

Hi Nicolas, if you can later post photos of the departure from the NAIQ and the arrival at JFK and your return, have a nice flight, Of course, there will be a feeling of nostalgia beyond the results that the route leaves.

  7. The only purpose of doing it for a year is to prevent someone from asking for the route because it doesn't make sense to say "they say they lose money" that they expect a miracle
Also once again it was verified that the route is Guayaquil NY not from Quito
Trying Madrid is another unreal dream and that route is super served
Even when they don't settle down and act objectively about reality

I called the whole month of December to buy another ticket and they never told me about the closure of the flight but only told me to call another day because the system was undergoing maintenance. Just this week they told me that the flight I bought for March is canceled for maintenance and they told me that I can request a refund. I did it and they ask me for documents that justify that I am the one who bought the trip and that they are going to take forever 30 a 45 business days to return the statement. I have to travel to Ecuador and I bought the tickets in September. It was a programmed expense but now where do I get the money from until they pay me back and the interest is not going to pay me back either.

  9. Maybe TAME could do UIO-FLL-JFK-FLL-UIO operations with their A320's? I believe that most passengers are not putting flight time above the cost of airfare..

  10. It also became unprofitable due to the discredit that Tame has gained with its unscheduled maintenance that one day I also had to live, Nowadays many people prefer and I include myself in using foreign airlines for flights to the USA for fear that their flights will be cancelled..

  11. It's a real shame, the only Airbus A330-200 in TAME colors that has been operating must go….

Nicholas, What possibilities are there to make the UIO-NYC route profitable?? Perhaps because the occupancy rate was lower than 70% it is understandable but, using a smaller aircraft would improve profitability? And finally, Madrid was not a route that was being studied to open because the Airbus A330 is or would be perfect for transatlantic routes…Many Ecuadorians reside in Spain.
