LATAM Group has made its first international flight using combustible sustainable aviationón (PURE, by its acronym in Englishés). The flight was made by LATAM Cargo Chile from Zaragoza Airport, España, towards Northamérich and responds to the group's commitment to become carbon neutral by 2050.
Flight with sustainable fuel from LATAM
The Aviaci Sustainable Fuelón (PURE) It is a type of fuel that comes from alternative raw materials such as waste, fats and oils, among others, which are co-processed together with conventional fuel to produce a synthetic fuel.élow attic CO2. In this case, were used 30.000 liters of PURE co-processed made from used cooking oil, being the other proportionón traditional jet fuel fuel.
with this milestone, The LATAM group becomes the first Aerol groupínew to supply SAF from Air bp at Zaragoza Airport, España, result that was possible thanks to the collaborative work of LATAM and Airbp, together with partners such as AENA and Exolum who also contributedén en la implementationón of this flight.
Currently allowed up to 5% of sustainable raw material within the co-processing of this PURE, to which a saving of around 80% of carbon emissions throughout its life cycle, in comparisonón with aviation fuelóconventional n which it replaces.
